Assistant Catering Manager / Supervisor | Mobeni (South of DBN)

Scope & General Purpose of the Job:

To provide operational and administrative support to management as to meet the requirements of the commercial contract.

Responsible to: Catering Manager
Responsible for: Kitchen staff
In communication with: Catering Manager, Area Manager

Education / Qualification and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Education / Qualification: Minimum Level / Years of Experience:
Food Service Management diploma / or equivalent 5 years’ experience in similar role/environment

  1. Supervision of Food Production and Service
  2. Systems, Controls and Administration
  3. Hygiene and food safety
  4. Human Resources Management (Subordinates)
  5. Client Liaison and Retention
  6. General Assistance
  7. Self-Management

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Communication skills, able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
  2. Planning & Organising Skills, able to plan, prioritise, schedule, and organise activities and resources to meet deliverables or deadlines
  3. Interpersonal Skills, able to develop effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  4. People Management Skills, able to lead, motivate and encourage team members to achieve deliverables
  5. Numeracy Skills, able to perform and interpret job related calculations accurately
  6. Cooking Skills, able to produce meals across the required range of menus / alternatively able to discern required food production standards

Additional Skills Requirements:

  1. Excellent quality management skills
  2. Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen and service staff.
  3. Well spoken – must be able to communicate in English
  4. Excellent communication skills, and Interpersonal skills
  5. Strong organisational and time management skills
  6. Decision making skills
  7. Excellent food hygiene and Health and Safety skills
  8. Able to be innovative and show initiative to enhance sales and customer satisfaction
  9. Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene practices – ISO 9001 advantageous
  10. Must be able to do menu and function planning
  11. Must have strong culinary skills,
  12. Must be Computer literate and work in excel and mail
  13. Own reliable car will be an advantage
