About the Position:

  • CSG Skills is seeking an energetic, driven, personable and well-organised Business Development Consultant to join their dynamic team sourcing new business within a long-established progressive organisation. 

  • CSG Skills forms part of the CSG Group and is a market leader in training and consulting services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify prospective customers through a variety of media and cold calling to qualify potential leads;
  • Identify potential clients within specialist fields through research and networking and through industry market knowledge and research
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market and actively create and nurture new and existing relationships
  • Utilizing extensive and innovative client attraction strategies that are relevant to the changing market
  • Ensure you build a strong referral network
  • Assist clients to select the appropriate services based on the client’s requirements, needs and relevant legislative requirements
  • Present our company to potential clients & multiple audiences
  • Put together proposals and quotations aligned to the client’s needs;
  • Negotiate and prepare appropriate terms of sales and service agreements and terms of business with new Clients for authorisation;
  • Involvement in tender processes
  • Compile regular reports on all sales activities and submit at the required intervals to the BD Manager
  • Responsible for ensuring companies penetration of new accounts by delivering the highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction
  • Stay up-to-date with new products/services and new pricing/payment plans

Skills Required:

  • Ability to problem solve and find a practical solution to issues that arise
  • Ability to understand business processes and be able to interpret business needs
  • Able to communicate professionally with all levels of management
  • Be able to demonstrate thorough understanding of sales and the sales lifecycle
  • Be able to work under pressure and in a stressful environment
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power point
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Strong aptitude for sales and a proven sales track record.
  • Willingness to travel (when required)


  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience within the BBBEE, EE, Skills and training solutions industry with a proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the B-BBEE, Employment Equity, and Skills Development Acts and practical implementation thereof.
  • Proven track record in successfully selling learnerships and other skills development initiatives related to these Acts.
  • Proven experience in working within the skills development space in a sales related role.


  • Matric: non-negotiable
  • A Diploma or Degree in Sales and Marketing is preferred;
  • Driver’s licence and own vehicle essential.
