MILLWRIGHT | Alberton, Gauteng

  • Job Title: Millwright

  • Location: Alberton, Gauteng

  • Duration: Shutdown – 3 months’ Probation to Permanent.

DUTIES:

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Use specialized tools, such as welders or hydraulic bolters,
  • Align and replace a machine’s individual parts.
  • Move and relocate machinery on- and off-site.
  • Operates industrial machinery found in construction sites, factories, power plants, and other sectors.
  • Installing equipment, repairing items, and transferring machinery to needed locations.
  • Install, operate, repair, fault find, upgrade and service various electrical and mechanical systems. These systems can include wiring, specialized electrical equipment and different fixtures.
  • Work within relevant codes and regulations.
  • Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly.
  • Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations.
  • Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
  • Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
  • Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts.
  • Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
  • Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees and stakeholders such as Engineers, Plant Managers, and Part Vendors, amongst others.
  • Move equipment and machinery as needed throughout your shift either manually or with the proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, measuring tools, and equipment for cutting, welding and brazing to adequately fulfill your daily job duties.
  • Utilize cranes and trucks to complete large-scale projects.
  • Put your professional judgement to good use to decide which machines, techniques and tools are the best option for moving equipment and completing all necessary jobs.
  • Assist machinery maintenance workers as well as industrial machinery mechanics as needed to help make sure the plant and all machines operate at peak efficiency.
  • Package and categorize machine parts after taking them apart with accuracy and according to the company’s standards and specific project requirements.
  • Clean up at the end of shift to make sure your job site remains well-organized and free of unnecessary clutter.
  • Take steps to ensure every job is done in a manner that’s safe and completed according to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws and requirements.
  • Align machines, such as micrometers, jacks and hoists.
  • Dismantle machines, including crowbars and wrenches, at the end of a project
  • Troubleshoot equipment to figure out problems and find solutions
  • Provide signals to crane operators to guarantee safe movement across the premises.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Trade Certificate
  • Must have cable manufacturing industry experience, to work on Electrical manufacturing of electrical cable Industry.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • High school diploma plus an apprenticeship in millwrighting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SAP software
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program
  • Physically able to complete job responsibilities
