PUBLICATION AND RELEASE OF THE 22ND CEE ANNUAL REPORT

The National Council of Provinces signed the Employment Equity Amendment Bill on Tuesday, 17th May 2022. The Bill will amend the Employment Equity Act, No 55 of 1998 (EEA), to inter alia, empower the Employment and Labour Minister to determine sectoral numerical targets.

 

It amends the definition of a “designated employer” by excluding employers who employ fewer than 50 employees, regardless of their annual turnover.

 

All designated employers’ EE Plans nationally will change to comply with the Minister Sectoral targets.

 

Section 33 requires the Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) to submit a report to the Minister on an annual basis. The Minister and CEE launched the 22nd CEE Annual Report on the 20th June 2022.
