SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT – HIGHLIGHTED REQUIREMENT

Measured Entities, on an annual basis, are required to contribute 1% of Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) towards Socio-Economic Development initiatives that will enable black people to gain access to the mainstream economy.

Initiatives should enhance the ability of Black People who are not yet self-sustainable to learn new skills or turn the skills that they already have into something that can generate an income and enable their participation in the economy. The focus is to participate in meaningful initiatives that ensure long-term sustainability and facilitate the independence of beneficiaries as opposed to only catering for an immediate need.

Socio-Economic Development can be likened to the philosophy of “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” ~ Lao Tzu
