The Women in Tech could not have been a better birthday gift for me! A gathering of phenomenal women from all walks of life with a specific goal to inform, empower and engage on various issues that impact on our lives today. Technological advancement has become a part of our personal and professional lives influencing how we learn, lead and teach and this include how we raise our children as well which resonated very strongly with me as a mother of young children. The benefits of technology in business, education, health, infotainment, etc. are undeniable however the biggest responsibility is to use these benefits positively and harmlessly to advance human development.
The speakers of the day delivered their respective messages with excellence and elegance and the woman who stood out for me was the programmes director, Natasha Anderson, the Co-Founder and CEO of Forge X for her dynamism, passion and forward-thinking attitude for inspiring the youth to embrace technology through creativity. Financial empowerment for women by Deidre Badenhorst was also an eye-opener and a relatable subject for me. Her vulnerability to openly share her personal story was very inspirational. Melini Moses’ talk was fun and informative with tips and tools on how to overcome the fear of public speaking and as someone who aspires to speak publicly as part of my career, it was really helpful! I look forward to participating in more of these events in the future
